Break the Gap: AI for Health & Sport Summit 2025 is the event that gives you the opportunity to turn a powerful idea into a promising startup. This is not just about networking or inspiration; it is about direct access to a free acceleration program valued at €10,000, led by GooApps Ventures, the venture studio specialized in health, sports, and wellness.
After the success of last year’s first edition with the AI & mHealth Challenge, Break the Gap aims to go even further by boosting technological solutions led by diverse talent, with no restrictions and with a clear vision: to create a positive impact in the world of health and sports. If you have a challenge to solve, a high-potential idea, or a team ready to build a useful solution for a real need, this is for you.
Because Break the Gap goes far beyond an event. It is a platform to accelerate technological ideas that can improve health or athletic performance. And if you have one, here is how you can turn it into a high-impact project.
Break the Gap: AI for Health & Sport Summit 2025 is the natural evolution of an event that already made an impression last year: the AI & mHealth Challenge 2024. What began as a call for innovation in the healthcare field is now scaling its ambition with a broader, more powerful proposal, offering even more opportunities for those who dare to build purposeful solutions.
This second edition broadens its scope with two independent verticals:
Both verticals share the same approach: solving real problems in the health or sports sectors through digital technology. This is not about imagining the future, but about building it. Break the Gap 2025 seeks to identify everyday challenges and turn them into viable, useful, and scalable technological solutions.
And the best part: finalist teams will not just pitch their ideas—they will develop them with expert guidance. Thanks to GooApps Ventures’ free acceleration program, each finalist project will be able to validate its proposal, refine its prototype, and prepare to enter the market. Four finalist projects will be selected in each vertical.
Innovating is good. Innovating with real support is even better.
No, Break the Gap 2025 is not an event exclusively for women.
And yes, everyone can participate: men, women, mixed-gender teams, or individuals.
So why is there so much talk about the gender gap? Because it exists. And because this event aims to play its part in reducing it, especially in the fields of digital health and sports technology, where female representation remains a minority. That is why this year there is a strong push to promote female leadership.
That is also why we are encouraging women to join this initiative and become part of this exciting ecosystem.
How?
Through a program led by mentors, with female speakers who are leaders in their sectors, and with actions designed to highlight female talent in tech innovation. But—and here is the important part—this does not mean there are any gender requirements to participate.
If your team is made up entirely of men, you can submit your challenge with no issue.
If you are leading a disruptive idea in health or sports, this event is for you.
Break the Gap stands for inclusion, not exclusion. We promote diversity because it enriches solutions. But what matters here is the quality of your proposal, not who signs it.
At Break the Gap 2025, the prizes are tools to help your project grow. And the best part is that they begin long before the winners are announced.
The 8 finalist teams—four per vertical (health and sports)—will gain direct access to a free acceleration program valued at €10,000, with no strings attached. No fine print, no obligations.
This program, led by GooApps Ventures, includes specialized mentoring, support in technological and market validation, product design, strategy, pitch training, and access to a network of experts and potential collaborators. In other words, beyond being an opportunity to showcase your idea, it is a chance to develop it with professional resources.
If your team wins in its vertical, it will have the chance to receive a €50,000 investment in exchange for equity—but only if you choose to. It is an option, not a requirement.
No one is forced into a funding round. The idea is to support the growth of those who want to scale their solution with the backing of a venture studio, without pressuring those who prefer to move forward at their own pace.
GooApps Ventures is committed to offering real support: visibility before more than 100 professionals in the sector, strategic networking sessions, expert mentors guiding each phase, and the opportunity to team up with an organization that knows how to bring ideas to market.
Marta García Guarde | EnFarma App
The commitment to highlighting female talent is nothing new. In the previous edition, the AI & mHealth Challenge 2024, two out of the four finalists were led by women.
La Ruta Azul, the winning project, was born with the mission of facilitating early diagnosis and intervention in childhood neurodevelopmental disorders. Co-led by Natalia Carro Padín, a speech therapist specialized in language and communication, the project developed a platform based on artificial intelligence that impressed the jury and moved them with its human impact. Technology, science, and sensitivity—all in a single proposal. That is how you win.
Another standout example was EnFarma App, led by Marta García Guarde, a nurse at the Álvarez-Buylla Hospital in Mieres. Her proposal was a tool to improve the safe administration of medication in clinical settings, with a dose calculator, training modules, and quick access to protocols. Practical, highly informed, and focused on solving a real problem. EnFarma reached the final on its own merits and left a mark.
These cases were selected for their ability to connect innovation with clinical reality, for presenting viable solutions, and for the excellent work of their teams. Female leadership is already here. What Break the Gap wants is to give it even more space.
If Break the Gap 2025 is the entry point, GooApps Ventures is the team that stands beside you to help you cross it. It is the heart of the acceleration program and the driving force that helps finalist projects become viable, structured startups ready for the market. But what makes GooApps Ventures different?
GooApps Ventures is not a conventional accelerator. It is a medtech venture studio specialized in health, sports, and wellness. Its approach is to turn innovation into impact. It identifies great ideas, develops them, validates them, and brings them to market with comprehensive support—from initial concept to commercialization.
Its purpose lies in closing a gap that is all too common in the ecosystem: the one that separates scientific research and disruptive ideas from their implementation in the market. Because having a brilliant idea is not enough if you do not know how to execute it, fund it, certify it, and scale it. That is where GooApps Ventures comes in strong.
The mission of GooApps Ventures is to co-create startups that improve people’s quality of life, reduce inequalities in access to healthcare, and contribute to a more efficient, equitable, and sustainable innovation model.
Its focus is on three major areas:
GooApps Ventures has a high-performance team that brings together experts in technology, business, design, strategy, regulation, and marketing. This team is actively involved in every project, adapting to the maturity stage of each idea and delivering what is needed at every phase.
At GooApps Ventures, every solution developed addresses an existing need, is user-centered, and has real implementation potential in clinical and sports environments.
The GooApps Ventures model is based on creating a trusted, collaborative environment with measurable results. That is why we work closely with universities, hospitals, research centers, and leading companies in the sector—building bridges between innovation and the institutions that support it.
This ecosystem enables:
In the words of its founder and CEO, Eric García, GooApps was born to improve lives through technology. And GooApps Ventures is its natural next step: co-creating startups capable of transforming entire sectors.
That is why, if your project becomes a finalist in Break the Gap 2025, you will enter a unique acceleration process—with a team that commits alongside you, that tells you what works, what does not, and what you need for your solution to stop being just an idea and start becoming a reality.
This is the unique value that makes Break the Gap such a special and high-impact event.
Here is a step-by-step guide to enter the call for proposals.
We are looking for concrete problems—those encountered daily in hospitals, health centers, sports facilities, federations, or high-performance centers. It does not matter whether it is structural, operational, or clinical. What matters is that it is a challenge that can be solved with a practical digital solution.
You can apply to two independent verticals:
The call for challenges is open until June 8, 2025.
To participate, you only need to complete the registration form, which must include:
Important: There are no gender restrictions to apply. The event promotes female leadership, but individuals and teams of any gender and composition can participate.
Submit your challenge through this link.
A jury made up of experts in health, sports, innovation, and technology will evaluate all submitted challenges. What will be assessed?
On June 20, 2025, the 8 finalist projects (4 per vertical) will be announced. These teams will move forward into the acceleration program.
Once the challenges are selected, the organization will facilitate the creation of multidisciplinary teams. Each team will have:
The official team announcement will take place on June 25, 2025.
During three virtual sessions—July 3, 10, and 17, 2025—teams will work alongside their mentors to transform the idea into a viable solution: conceptualization, validation, business plan, pitch, and prototype. Everything is designed to ensure they reach the final with a project ready to make an impact.
Each vertical will have its own final, hosted in iconic innovation venues:
During these days, teams will present their projects before an expert jury. Additionally, there will be inspiring keynotes and networking sessions with investors, technologists, mentors, and key figures from the ecosystem.
The prize? You already know it: access to a free acceleration program valued at €10,000 for all finalists, and the option of a €50,000 equity investment for those who choose to take that step as winners.
Everything starts with a challenge. And you decide how far you want to take it.
If you work in health or sports, and face daily processes that could be more efficient, treatments that could be better personalized, or training that could be optimized through data analysis, then Break the Gap is for you.
This is not about competing. It is about building.
With purpose, with real support, and with impact.
